Dirtbombs 7inch coverAustralian Singalong with the Dirtbomb Singers is another in the long line of rocking 7 inch singles by The Dirtbombs, one of Mick Collins' post-Gories projects. I've always been a big fan of anything Gories related.

This single is an exclusive Australian tour single which includes two covers from the land down under. The A-side is a slow building, ultra-driving fuzzed out version of The Elois song By My Side - the original version of which is included on Nuggets, Vol. 2: Original Artyfacts From the British Empire & Beyond. Here it loses some of it's ebb and flow psych flavor, and in its' place is a powerful grooving stomp of a backbeat soul shouter. Both versions have some awesome fuzzed out moments. Really sweet obscure treat dug up.

The B-side is a cover of The Bee Gees' I Started A Joke. This side starts out with the acoustic guitars and could well be an early Cat Stevens' side. The voices are warbled with a quavered effect. Definitely a cool fuzzed out ballad, but I have to say my vote goes to the A-side. The entire single has a way of really rocking out but still has a really tight contained sound. Supreme deal, if you can get your hands on it.
