The Fall

title

The Marshall Suite

label

Artful Records

format
CD

The Fall The Marshall Suite is a concept album of sorts split into 3 'movements'. It has some of the strongest songs that The Fall have released in years, and is really a great record. "F-'Oldin' Money" rips the music from the song 'Summertime Blues' and is a kick. "Touch Sensitive" sounds rocking and very cool, and is the first single from this record. There's a cover of The Saints song 'This Perfect Day'. "(Jung Nev's)Antidotes" is massive. The final song "On My Own" is like a Mark E Smith "Piss Factory" (the first Patti Smith single from 1974) with its intense piano and vocal.

label

City Slang

To Rococo Rot'Telema' is from their new LP (The Amatuer View), but the other two songs are unique to this 10". To Rococo Rot are Ronald and Robert Lippok (who named the band after an art exhibition they had in their hometown Berlin), and bassist Stephan Schneider (who recently left Kreidler to concentrate full time on this band). Ronald Lippok still plays in Tarwater as well.

The Ninjas

title

'In and Out' b-w 'Calling You Out'

label

Blackbean & Placenta Tape Club

format
7inch

Really just one guy (Eric Copeland) who moved to NYC from Maine. The Ninjas produce noisy guitar racket with a very poppy edge. This is as clangy and lively as their previous 12" on Blackbean. 2 exclusive tracks.
