The Way The City Stretches

label

Won't Go Flat Records

format
LP

This early-'80s British-style strummy pop foursome includes Josh Kline (Aden) and bassist Aden Kumler. They moved here from Chicago, where they put out this LP on the indy label Won't Go Flat in 1996. They have a more recent 7inch ('Checks & Credit')on the Scottish label Tinseltones. Oddly they never play out. Last show they did in Boston was last fall at an MIT coffeehouse with Aden.

The Fun Of The Century

label

Piao!

format
12inch

Latest addition to our growing Piano Magic collection is a great 4 song 12" that some feel is their strongest release. There are female vocals on several of the tracks too, which is odd for them, as all their other stuff is instrumental.

Hydroplane is from Australia and is a space rock side profect of people from The Cat's Miaow. The A-side is a cover of The Shapiros, and the B-side is a cover of The Creation. Quiet beautiful female vocal songs with vocals throughout, but no drums.

Damaged Goods

format
7inch

Supercool Jamie, 27, who is dating All Saints babe Natalie Appleton, hosts top-rated shows The O Zone and Live & Kicking. This is a 4-song ep from Wales featuring a song about him. Supercute is the guy who puts singles out as Teen Anthems (who had the 7inchs "Welsh Bands Suck" & "I Hate Oasis"), with vocals by Rachel of Helen Love on 2 of the songs. The music is electro-pop with fun lyrics.

Kill Rock Stars

format
7inch

This is the January 1999 release of the KRS mail order singles club. It features a new song on the A-side and a remix of a song from their last LP on the B-side. Both songs are very good dissonant post-new wave with male/female vocals. One of the members is in Satisfact as well. The band is from Olympia WA.
